As 2012 slowly (well, let’s be honest I’d say more like rapidly – where has this year gone?!) comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on this year and all the events and wonderful memories that happened.
One of them was Tommy and my honeymoon in May to St. Croix in the U.S. Virigin Islands. While we had gotten married the previous year, October 21, 2011, we decided to wait a little bit before we took our honeymoon because of my job and it’s strict vacation policy.
I was able to take almost a week off (including a weekend) for our honeymoon and after much discussion, based on our time constraints and the fact that we wanted to pick a destination where we both had never been before, we settled on St. Croix that came highly recommended from a co-worker of mine. We were pretty excited for all the obvious reasons (VACATION, it was somewhere new to go, time to spend with just each other, escaping the demands and stresses of work), but personally I was looking forward to going to a “beach destination”. While my parents are avid world travelers (and by nature so are my brother and I), they aren’t really “beach” people, so we had never been to the Bahamas, Aruba, Cancun, or any of the Virgin Islands before. BRING ON ST. CROIX BABY!
Our trip was wonderful. Just what the doctor ordered. We slept a lot, spent time on the beach, ate at AMAZING restaurants – I’ll admit, I was very surprised how high the bar was for cuisine on the island -, and Tommy and I jet skiied for the very first time. I actually think this is probably Tommy’s most favorite part of the trip. 🙂
Here are some highlights:
Where we dined for the week:
Friday: Dinner @ Mahogany, a restaurant at the Carambola Resort and Hotel.
Tuesday: We picked up sandwiches at a little deli for lunch to take on our sailing trip. Dinner @ Savant. Delicious food! Will definitely go back.
Thursday: Lunch @ Cheeseburgers in Paradise.
Swimming in the ocean & pool, laying out on the beach, going to the casino (St. Croix is the only USVI island that has a casino), jet-skiing, sailing, taking drives on the road & off the road.
We had such a wonderful time. Tommy (and I) are dying to go back for a weekend again.
