Tuesday Tidbits – 8

1. Half marathon training officially began on Monday – yay!!! Per my training plan on Monday I did some stretching and for strength-training I did full body lifting. This consisted of flat dumbell presses, squats, lunges, dips, and dead lifts. This morning I did a 3-mile run. I know it’s super early in the game, but I’m feeling good and am really excited training has begun.

2. This past Friday Tommy, my mom, and I went out for sushi in Clarendon at Sushi Rock. We had never been there before and found the place through a Google search since Tommy was really craving sushi that day and he’d be in the Clarendon area prior to dinner for a meeting. In all honesty, I’m not sure I would go back. The atmosphere was fine. According to its website, “Sushi Rock is a modern take on two things that just about everyone seems to enjoy in their lives; fun music and sharing sushi”. Our service was very much on the slow side and none of the sushi dishes we ordered really blew my socks off and I didn’t think warranted the hefty price tags. The one dish that did impress us though was the tuna tartare, below.

One of our appetizers, the tuna tartare, was quite good. We scarfed it down! (But this might have been because we were starving by the time the dish arrived).

Sushi

Salmon roe!
Fun fact: ever since I was a kid I have loved this sushi dish. I always order it whenever I go out for sushi.

3. I’m still on a healthy cooking roll. I made these dishes this weekend.

4. Any Homeland watchers out there? Can we talk about the season finale? Not only am I a little confused about the events that happened during the episode, I am also curious to hear other people’s theories.

5. Only 8 more days until Christmas! I can’t believe how fast time has flown by. We’ll be spending Christmas with Tommy’s family in Maine. I’m wondering if we’ll have a White Christmas this year. So far every year we’ve spent in Maine for Christmas we are never disappointed, so fingers crossed! One of my favorite things to watch is Violet scampering outside in the snow – it’s hysterical.
