For Christmas Eve dinner Tommy, my brother Marshall, my mom, and I had a very special meal. (Dad was on his way to the U.S. from Nigeria where he currently travels back and forth for work).
A few of mom’s friends had told her about a restaurant near Chesapeake Beach, in a town called Deale, that served $.25 oysters. The rest of us were a little skeptical, but seriously hoping this proved to be a true thing.
Every Tuesday night from 4-7pm, Skipper’s Pier serves $.25 raw oysters and $2 crabs. Lucky for us Christmas Eve fell on a Tuesday night so we were in for a treat.
To start we ordered three dozen raw oysters.
Tommy decided to try a raw oyster for the very first time! His reaction? He said it felt like a squishy, piece of jello with not much taste. Later he tried one of my fried oysters and thought it being fried brought out the oyster’s taste a bit more.
We also ordered a plate of fried pickles because honestly, why not?
We gobbled the oysters and fried pickles up fast!
For our entree mom and I split the fried oyster dinner…and then might have ordered the fried oyster appetizer a little later because we were raving about how good they tasted.
Marshall ordered the fried oyster po’boy and Tommy got two crab cakes.
WE WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK TO SKIPPER’S PIER. The food is delicious, the Tuesday night deal on raw oysters and crabs a steal, and the servers are so friendly and helpful. Once we got back to the house we decided to hang by the fire and admire the Christmas tree we decorated the night before when Marshall came into D.C. from Atlanta.
