American Cool

Good morning!

Hope you’re Monday is off to a great start. Mine began with a workout (15 minutes on the bike and then 15 minutes weight-training) and then a stop at Starbucks before heading into my office. Lately I have been craving Soy Chai lattes. YUM!

This weekend was a bit action packed. On Saturday I had a long overdue brunch with my friend Lindsay at Clyde’s in Chinatown.

Our starter, crab and artichoke dip with a French baguette.

Then I moseyed my way to the National Portrait Gallery. My alumni’s leadership team had organized a private museum tour for fellow alums. We were going to tour the “American Cool” Exhibit. The exhibition explores the history of “American Cool” and features actors, musicians and other public figures who embody different generational versions of “cool.” According to organizers, “Each generation has certain individuals who bring innovation and style to a field of endeavor while projecting a certain charismatic self-possession. They are the figures selected for this exhibition: the successful rebels of American culture.”

Our tour guide, Kelly, was pretty awesome. (Hello yellow shorts!) In addition to guiding us through the "Cool" exhibit he also showed us some other cool things in the museum.

Of course I had everyone pose for a group photo after the 1.5 hour tour concluded!

After the tour, Tommy and I met up at Costco to do Round #1 of shopping for our fall party we are hosting at our house next Sunday. Then we zipped to Alexandria to celebrate our friends Jessica and Stephen’s engagement!

Sunday was filled with some errand running and football. 🙂

A good weekend indeed!

QUESTION:

How was your weekend?
