Thai X-ing Dinner

Last night my friend Lara and I had an amazing Thai dinner at Thai X-ing on U Street. Lara had been dying to go there, while I had never even heard of it. However as soon as I mentioned to folks that I was going to eat dinner here I heard nothing but incredible things about this restaurant.

The rave reviews were spot on.

The restaurant has two locations, one on Florida Avenue which is essentially the basement of a town home, and the newest location on 9th Street NW – which is where we ate at. Both restaurants have a daily menu that diners have to eat from (no picking and choosing here, except for your drink – alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It also must be said that for the price of $30 per person, the number of dinner items a patron gets is VERY generous.

For example this is what Lara and I feasted on last night.

We each ordered a cup of fresh Mint tea since it was chilly last night.

We each started off with a bowl of Lemon Grass soup.

Followed by a Noodle and Papaya salad.

Then a Pineapple Curry.

And, finally, for dessert Sticky Rice and Mango slices.

While everything we ate was yummy, my favorite dishes were the Noodle and Papaya salad and the Salmon Curry.

When you go, I’d suggest making a reservation as this restaurant space wasn’t too big and it was a packed house, even on a cold Tuesday night!
