Ava Meets the Big Apple

In mid-June we took Ava on her first out-of-the-DMV-area trip. We were heading to the Big Apple to celebrate my friend Tiffany’s wedding – which I had the honor of being in the wedding. Even before Ava was born Tommy and I had decided that we’d make a special weekend out of this wedding weekend by bringing Ava to meet friends that would be in town for the wedding and to celebrate Tommy’s first Father’s Day which was on that Sunday. Mom was even going to join us!

It was definitely an exciting packed weekend as you will see from the photos below!

We decided to drive to New York City since that would give us flexibility to stop whenever we needed (for pit stops, feeding and diaper- change stops) and because we ended up packing a LOT OF STUFF. 95% of it was all for Ava!

Well, it turns out that Ms. Ava didn’t even need us to stop on her account. She did so great in the car! On the way up there she slept the entire way there, except for when we decided to wake her up to change her diaper and feed her because Tommy needed to use the restroom! It was pretty much the same on the way back home too. Ever since we left the hospital we have found that she loves riding in the car!

We had some time to kill before we could check into our hotel so we strolled around downtown looking for a place to grab a quick lunch.

For the “rehearsal dinner” on Friday night wedding guests enjoyed a 2-hour boat cruise on the Hudson River while sampling appetizers and sipping on drinks. My friend Christina and me with the gorgeous bride. (Thanks mom for watching Ava!)

I love this photo. Ava gave her Nana a big smile while they spent some quality time together on Friday evening.
