Retail’s Night Out 2016

Happy rainy, dreary, gray Friday (in the DMV area) everybody! Who else is ready for this rain to just leave already? Fortunately, weather forecasters say the weekend will bring some sunshine. Here’s to hoping!

As I mentioned on Tuesday, my friend Hannah and I went to the 2nd annual Retail’s Night Out on Wednesday night at City Center in DC. Hosted by the National Retail Federation, this event aimed to highlight DC’s retail entrepreneurial spirit. For one night only the event featured pop-up shops, food trucks, and music.

Getting my shop on!

Hannah and I enjoyed ourselves. We went back and forth liking the cool and pending rainy weather since it meant the event wasn’t mobbed when we got there, but then we were also hoping for warmer, sunnier weather for an outdoor event. 🙂 Luckily it didn’t start raining until later, when we were safely eating dinner at a nearby restaurant.

One of the pop-ups there was World Market where they were showcasing furniture and home supplies, as well as tasty treats and beverages. I loved this outdoor setup of theirs, particularly the flamingo pillow!

Other retailers and restaurants participating included The Cookery,Brake Ink, Buredo, Chups Condiments, DeNada, District Doughnut, Filson,FLOR INC., Framebridge, Hammock Boutique, Hugh & Crye, Ice Cream Jubilee, LiLi The First, Living Threads Co., Mallory Shelter Jewelry,Niko+Ava, Peregrine Espresso, Relish Decor, S3 Active, Sea Bags, stubble & ‘stache, theStrutTruck, Treaty General Store, Trunk Club,Typecase Industries, Undone Chocolate, and Whim Pop.

I also saw several Food Trucks pulled up along the curb.

Of course Hannah and I found things to purchase!

Hannah bought a beautiful necklace that we were both coveting at Mallory Shelter Jewelry. I bought the most adorable notepad for a friend, and we both bought hysterical greeting cards from another vendor, Typecase Industries.

Pretty soon our tummies were telling us that we were both hungry and thirsty so we decided to pop into Del Frisco’s for a couple drinks and appetizers, before heading to Olive and Fig for dinner.

A great night out! I would definitely go to next year’s Retail’s Night Out.

Have a great weekend.
