Just seeing Tiffany smiling and glowing during her baby shower on Saturday was enough to know that the shower Christina and I co-hosted was a huge success! I personally loved seeing the soon-to-be-grandmas enjoying themselves too! Such a sweet, precious time for families – welcoming babies into their lives.
When the three of us (Tiffany, Christina, and I) first started discussing the baby shower, I had sent Tiffany a few gender neutral baby shower theme ideas as inspiration tip-offs. (She and her husband, Chris, don’t want to find out the sex of their baby until the very end. So exciting!) She almost immediately chose a bumblebee “Mommy To Bee” theme. Of course I loved that! The theme was fun, cheery, and easy to decorate around. I also liked that we could also play off the “What Will it Bee”? question too.
Once the theme was set Christina and I got to work. We delegated the big shower pieces between us (planning & executing) – Christina was in charge of the invitation (thank you Paperless Post!) and the games, while I was in charge of the decorations and favors. We tackled the food and drinks together.
While Christina and I put together the cheese and charcuterie boards, and the hummus and pita chips, we had Plum Pure Foods and Catering handle the bigger items:
- Chopped Kale Salad
- Orzo Pasta Salad
- Chicken and Shrimp Kebabs
I can’t stop saying nice things about Plum Pure – not only was the food delicious, the owner and chef was such a delight and pleasure to work with (he answered all of my questions, made suggestions, and even delivered the food to Tiffany’s house at no extra charge). As you can see the portions were also huge!
We ordered two dozen bee-designed cupcakes from DiMare Pastry Shop. The cupcakes were big, light, and yummy and very reasonably priced!
We set up a mimosa bar + cucumber water + Whispering Angel Rose for drinks. (The rose was Chris’s addition!)
How cute is this diaper cake I ordered off Etsy?!
I also ordered this banner from Etsy too.
The favors were adorable too. Who doesn’t need chapstick?!
We “played” two games during the shower: the tummy measure game and we decorated nursery blocks for Baby Orcutt. While I have been to a number of baby showers I had never seen or done the latter. It was so adorable and so much fun to engage in. If I’m fortunate to host more baby showers this will definitely be something we do. Great job Christina!
We took a group photo of most of the shower guests before everyone started slipping out.
